The Sunshine Kids Program (SSK) is a flagship education initiative of J&T German African Cooperation gGmbH (JTGAC). Since 2020, the program has been supporting war-affected, orphaned, and socially disadvantaged children in Cameroon, giving them access to education and the opportunity to build a brighter future. In many parts of Cameroon, quality education comes at a cost that vulnerable families cannot afford. Years of socio-political crisis, displacement, and poverty have left many children at risk of dropping out of school. Some live with relatives who struggle to provide even basic necessities, while others have lost one or both parents. Moved by the difficult realities faced by these children, Jenny and Tomas Buhr launched Sunshine Kids as a private initiative in 2020. What began with supporting a few children has grown into a structured educational program and one of the flagship projects of JTGAC. At Sunshine Kids, we believe that education is more than attending school. Education restores hope, builds confidence, and empowers children to shape their own future. In the 2026/2027 academic year, Sunshine Kids will support 24 children and young people. With an average annual cost of only €325 per child, the program offers life- changing opportunities to children who would otherwise be denied access to education.
